January Update

I realize that I have not been posting any updates, recipes, workouts, or pictures on here since I started working out. I promise I have been working out and changing my eating habits. In lieu of writing several posts to catch up to February, I will just give you a one post update. I have been going to the gym 4 days a week:

  • Monday: Run the indoor track, leg machines and abs
  • Tuesday: Swim
  • Wednesday: Cardio, arm machines and abs
  • Friday: Run the indoor track, abs and glutes

Since the beginning of January I have only missed one day. I set my alarm to wake up at the wrong time on Monday (January 30) … so, to make up for it, I am going to the gym this Thursday (February 2).

In terms of my eating habits … For the month of January I stopped snacking as much. Now when I think I need a snack, I drink a glass of water and if I am still hungry 10 minutes later I eat a piece of fruit (usually an apple or banana). In addition to changing my “snacking” habits, I decided to give up red meat. Giving up red meat has been the hardest for me so far because I eat whatever my mom cooks for dinner … there were a couple times this month she used red meat.

Look into the future:

I plan to continue going to the gym 4 days a week. On my other 3 days, I plan to still workout … even if it is only doing abs, or a leg workout at home. I also, plan to continue to monitor my snacking, continue with not eating red meat AND starting February I will be giving up pop. I am going to try to only drink milk, juice and water … This is definitely going to be my biggest challenge yet because I LOVE COKE!

So, until next week … Thanks for reading.

Week 1

Here is a zoomed in photo of what my stomach and torso current look like. I will continue to photograph myself every week, in hopes to show my progress of time.

From the beginning

In order for you guys to et a complete picture I am going to take you ALL the way back to when I was a kid. Okay, so it was that long ago and some of your may argue that I am still a kid … but you get the picture.

My entire life I was a gymnast, I had spent 20+ hours per week in the gym since I was 10-years-old.  I never really had to worry about what I ate because I knew I would just work it off in the gym.

I graduated high school in 2007, I was 5-1 and weighed 90 lbs. Of course I knew that I was going to gain some weight when I moved away to school my Freshman year (let’s face it I need to get a little more meat on my bones). So naturally, I fell victim to gaining the Freshman 15 … then the Sophomore 15 … Junior 10 … Senior 10 … and post graduation 5. We all can do the math, but in case you don’t feel like using that side of your brain that’s a total of 50 lbs, putting me at 140 lbs.

It’s clearly time to change the way I eat and get more active. I hope to keep you all up-to-date on my process through pictures, recipes, exercises and more… So let’s start with some photos of me.
